The Future of DVD
The future of the DVD disc and the DVD player is, unfortunately, very gloom.
At the moment the development of the two successors of the DVD are both in an advanced stage.
The first one is the HD DVD designed by Toshiba and the second one is the Blu-Ray Disc designed by Sony and Panasonic.
It is not sure which one will be the successor of the DVD, although at the moment the Blu-Ray Disc seems to 'win' the fight over what the successor will be from the DVD. One also can't say for sure if the DVD will eventually die a quiet death, like the cassette player and the video tape.
Maybe it will be something that stays around for a couple more years. That way we can enjoy the features of the DVD for a long time to come.
It is also possible that in two years or so, we will all be looking to a HD DVD or a Blu-Ray Disc and its players, the quality of it, I'm sure, will be much better than it already is.
You have to imagine that with HD, which stands for High Definition, the quality of the movie will be much higher, maybe almost as if you are performing in the movie yourself!
I'm afraid that no one can tell the future in this matter. We will just have to wait and see what the future brings.
However, we can almost certainly be sure that the quality of movies, in whatever form, will only get better in the future.
