DVD Formats
There are a couple of different formats of DVD's to be found in today's market. Twelve to be precise.
I will talk about the most common ones in this article.
First of all, there is the DVD-Rom, this one is the most common used for data burning and movies. It is either silver or gold and can be single or multi sided.
DVD-R is a DVD that can record up to 4.7 GB (Giga Bit) on one DVD. It works about the same as the CD-rom.
DVD-RW is the same as a DVD-R, with the only exception that it can be used multiple times to record something. This is because you can tell your computer to 'clean' the DVD, so that you can use it again, and again, and again, and...
There is also a DVD that is called a DVD-D, with the D standing for Disposable. This is a Self-Destructing disposable DVD that gets sold in an airtight packaging. It wills self destruct itself through the process of oxidation after a couple of hours.
Ultimately, you have a choice of 12 different DVD formats that are sold these days. With that knowledge you are bound to find one that suits your exact needs of that moment. Some formats can be found really easy in a nationwide retailer shop like for example the DVD-Rom. But my guess is that it will be harder to find the DVD-D, so that you can buy it. Not every single store will sell that one.
