Mowing a Lawn
No one wants a front yard or a back yard that looks something out of an Amazon Forest. And as much as people delegate the task of keeping the lawn to a beautiful and acceptable height to youngsters, what we fail to grasp is that lawn mowing in itself is an art that requires mastering over time.
This art, however, does not require years of art school, just a few pointers that should be noted from the minute you turn on the mower. First off, make sure that your lawnmower has adequate oil as lack of might cause damage to your mower. If it has been raining, do not even think about mowing. Always wait for the grass to dry – that rules out early morning mowing.
Moving at a steady walking pace, start off by mowing the edges of the lawn. Walking too slow might cause the mower to bind up and skip spots. The general mowing direction is from one end to another - though this pattern will be greatly determined by the type of grass you have growing on your lawn. The types of grass also have different recommendations as to what height to be kept at. Again, it is to your discretion what height works for you.
Mow your lawn frequently – as soon as the grass long enough o be picked up by the mower. Overgrown grass makes it hard for mowers to work properly and also makes it harder for you to push it around.
